In the event that somebody promotes racist beliefs against another individual or group

In the event that somebody promotes racist beliefs against another individual or group, the government will intervene, and charge said person for violating the law. This practice already exists in Canada and indeed in many countries around the world, but these existing laws could be expanded to cover a wider definition of hate speech (perhaps enough to encompass the definition provided by the UN convention) and the enforcement of these laws could be carried out with greater rigor. For instance, if a politician believed it would be politically wise for him to imitate the language used by the president of the United States, there could be legal charges brought against him for the promotion of hate speech and racist attitudes towards others, a consequence that could easily provide a strong deterrence.
