Do you think Beowulf is a epic hero? Beowulf has been told for many centuries as an epic hero for killing monsters. Beowulf risked his own life for the people to live peacefully. Beowulf exemplifies the archetypal epic hero in the characteristics; significant and glorified, on a quest, risks death for glory or greater good.
When Beowulf fought Grendel he signified and glorified. It was significant because he gave Grendel a fair battle without armor or sword. It was glorified because Grendel terryfied Hrothgar for 12 years. It was also glorified because Beowulf killed Grendel by tearing Grendel’s arm off.
When Beowulf fought Grendel’s mom he was on a quest to kill her anyway you can. He swam to the bottom of late, battle Grendel’s mom, cut her head off with an ancient sword, and brought peace to Hrothgar. He brought glory when he pulled her up on shore with him.
