Code of Practice describes good practice for organisations handling confidential information concerning, or connected with, the provision of health services or adult social care. It therefore has a particular scope. Various information regimes will apply to these practices, including; The Data Protection Act 1998; The Freedom of Information Act 2000; The Disability Discrimination Act 1995; The Care Quality Commission (CQC) Essential Standards of Quality and Safety 2010 Outcome 21: Records (This is one of the core 16 quality and safety standards); The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 No. 781; The General Social Care Council “The Code of Practice for Social Care Workers”
