3.1 Type of Information Systems used by the Organization
According to Business Dictionary website, information system is a combination of hardware, software, infrastructure and trained personnel organized to facilitate planning, control, coordination, and decision making in an organization. There are three types of information systems use in Nintendo such as decision support systems, transaction processing systems, and management information systems
Decision support systems is a computer system used to support decision making in an organization or a business. This is because decision support systems give support while improving the quality of a manager decision. This system also helps to solve problems that occurs while using the external data. The benefits of using this system are allows for faster decision making, save money, improve collaboration and communication within groups, reduces training, increase satisfaction, provide perspectives to a situation and helps automate many business systems.
Besides, transaction processing systems is a system that gives information regarding business transactions that involve the collect, modify and retrieval of all transaction data. This system will record the daily routine transaction needed to conduct business. For an example, the data that will be record in this system such as sales order entry, hotel reservations, pay roll, employee records, manufacturing and shipping. The advantages of using this system are increase labour efficiency, help provide increased service, help build and maintain customer loyalty and maintain a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
Lastly, type of information that Nintendo use is management information system. Management information system is a system that provides managers with the tools to organize, evaluate and efficiently manage departments within an organization. By using this information system, the organization can monitor and control their business and predict the organization future performance. The benefits that we can get from using this system are increases productivity, enhances the quality of decision making, improves communication and helps develop teamwork and facilitate organizational transformation.
3.2 DESCRIBE THE SYSTEM
Decision support systems that were used by Nintendo used two techniques which are decision tree and solver sample. Decision tree provide an effective method of decision making because they clearly lay out the problem in order to make all options are challenged. Besides, it analyse fully the possible consequences of a decision. Other than that, it provides a framework to quantify the values of outcomes and the probabilities of achieving them. Lastly it also helps in making the best decisions on the basis of existing information and best guesses as well. Meanwhile, the implementation of solver help to organize the analyse the programs and it has a built in tool called as Solver.
Several other features are namely goal-seeking, What-if analysis and data management which are mostly widely used and distributed as general optimization modelling system. It is divided into three fundamental components which consisting of database, model and user interface. Database is also a knowledge base where the data is stored and retrieved when ever required, model, is the decision context and the criteria of the user which is represented in mathematical form or a model. User interface, at the other place play the role as the important component and as the communication between user and machine.
In Management Information Systems, Nintendo 3Ds collects Nintendo network ID, credit card details, Nintendo money cards, date or time, touch screen controls an button controls. The Nintendo 3Ds portable game console stated as the fifth iteration in the company’s DS family of hand held. The characteristic features of the game is that it have 3D screen, enabling 3D view without the need for special glasses and the ability to adjust or turn off 3D effect with the 3D Depth Slider, Stereo cameras that enable users to take 3D photos that can be viewed instantly on the 3D screen. New input interfaces including the Circle Pad, motion sensor, gyro sensor. It also equipped with SpotPass, a feature that lets Nintendo 3DS detect wireless hotspots or wireless LAN access points and obtain information, game data, free software, videos and so on for players even when the system is in sleep mode.
The Switch has reformed the comfort and hand held gaming market by bringing console-quality games to be on the go. It has changed the metrics of success from quality of graphics and game play to mobile. Currently, the main metrics for game success have been game play, and, in recent years, graphical quality. Home console systems and desktop PCs have stayed relative in a mobile world by offering superior graphical quality to hand held games. The Nintendo DS and Play Station Vita had fair graphics for the form factor of the device. The Switch, on the other hand wide range for a hand held and small for a TV-connected console, was an instant hit-entire online communities cropped up based on the local stock of the Nintendo Switch in stores and online. By changing the entire game from graphical quality as the console has home-console-like graphics to portability. The Switch is wireless and can be taken anywhere for on-the-go play, or hooked into a TV for home game play. This “switch” has careened Nintendo into a brand new market for versatile consoles.
For Nintendo transaction processing system, all data on the original system will be deleted once the transfer process has completed. Thus, after has performing the transfer, any data on the SD Card of the original system can only be used on the new system, and will not be recognised or identified by the original system. While the transfer is in processing, data that is saved on the target unit’s system memory is deleted fully, and then the source system’s data will replace it. Meanwhile, if there are any photographs data saved to the target system’s memory, it need to be copied to SD card before to perform the system transfer. After the transfer, downloaded software or save data which was stored on the SD card of the target system cannot be used any more. However, as the Nintendo eShop accounts are coordinated into one during the transfer, software can be downloaded back from Nintendo eShop. The data that has been saved of the target system will be overwrite with the data from the source system if the similar downloadable titles are on both systems.
